Eufloria Review
Eufloria is a tranquil strategy game that gradually lulls players into an enjoyable haze before exploding into compelling gameplay that commands their strategic attention. Unlike most RTS games, it eschews the complexity of resource gathering, unit training and tech tree research in favor of a more organic approach. Players are responsible for staking out territory, planting, and expanding seedling colonies, as well as waging war against rival flora colonies.
The game’s calming visuals and soothing soundtrack are an effective distraction, but Eufloria’s real charm lies in its uncomplicated controls. The whole game is played with the mouse, and ordering your seedlings around is as easy as clicking on an asteroid. Different asteroids grow different types of seedlings - defence trees protect against aggressive invaders, while Dyson trees produce more seedlings to allow for further expansion of your planetary realm.
The unique art style and simple gameplay make Eufloria a refreshing take on the genre, and it’s this unique mix that helped the game to win many fans, including becoming a finalist at the Independent Games Festival. The game also includes a story mode, dark matter mode and skirmish mode for more intense gaming.
